12 dishes for the New Year's table, or How to surprise guests

There are only a few days left until the New Year, and every hostess wants to surprise her guests with something delicious and unusual. We hope our selection will be useful to you.

 

Baked bacon

Ingredients: pork – 1.5 kg, carrot – 1 pc., garlic – 1 head, spices to taste, sesame seeds – 50 g.

Preparation. Wash the meat, remove the veins. Peel the carrots and garlic and cut them into thin cubes. Make holes in the meat with a knife, into which you need to put the carrots and garlic. Rub the stuffed meat with spices, roll in sesame seeds and put on a baking sheet with high sides. Bake at a temperature of 180 degrees for about 2 hours (periodically pour the meat with juice). When the pork has cooled, cut it into thin slices.

 

Pork ribs with vegetables

Ingredients: pork ribs – 1 kg, potatoes – 4–5 pcs., carrot – 1 pc., broccoli – 200 g, green beans – 100 g, peas – 100 g, mustard – 2 tbsp. l., ketchup – 2 tbsp. l., oil – 2 tbsp. l., salt and pepper to taste, oregano, paprika to taste, rosemary – 1 sprig.

Preparation. Wash and cut the ribs. Mix ketchup, mustard, oil, spices and rub this mixture on the ribs. Cover the ribs with cling film and refrigerate for a few hours. Peel and cut the potatoes and carrots and put them in a saucepan. Put the peas, green beans and broccoli there. Add a little water and oil and simmer for 7 minutes. Put the vegetables and ribs in a baking dish and pour the remaining marinade and add rosemary. Bake the dish for 40 minutes at 200 degrees under the lid (and another 10 minutes without the lid - so that a crust forms).

 

Salad with tongue

Ingredients: beef tongue – 250 g, eggs – 5 pcs., cheese – 100 g, bell pepper – 1 pc., garlic – 1 head, mayonnaise – 3 tbsp. l., sour cream – 2 tbsp. l., herbs.

Preparation. Boil the tongue, cool it and cut it into strips. Boil the eggs and cut them into strips. Bake the pepper and garlic, then cut the pepper into strips and crush the garlic with a fork. Cut the cheese into strips (you can leave a little for decoration). Prepare the dressing: mayonnaise, sour cream, herbs, salt. Add to the other ingredients and mix thoroughly, put in a salad bowl and garnish with grated cheese.

 

Shrimp and avocado salad

Ingredients: avocado – 1 pc., shrimp – 150 g, chicken eggs – 2 pcs., mayonnaise – 4 tbsp. l., hard cheese – 150 g, salt and pepper to taste.

Preparation. Boil the shrimp in salted water for 6–7 minutes, cool. Boil the eggs as well. Peel the shrimp and cut into cubes. Peel the eggs and grate on a large grater. Grate the cheese on a coarse grater as well. Peel the avocado and cut into cubes. Mix all the ingredients, add mayonnaise, salt and pepper. If desired, you can experiment with the serving: lay out the salad in the shape of a bone or a dog's face.

 

French Kiss Salad

Ingredients: tenderloin – 300 g, onion – 1 pc., dry white wine – 100 ml, tomatoes – 3 pcs., hard cheese – 200 g, mayonnaise to taste, oil for frying, salt and pepper to taste.

Preparation. Peel the onion, cut into rings and pour boiling water over it for 10–12 minutes. Then drain the boiling water and salt the onion. Cut the meat into strips, pepper and fry, stirring frequently. Then pour in the wine and set aside, covered with a lid. Peel the tomatoes, remove the seeds, and finely chop. Cut the cheese into cubes. Mix all the ingredients with mayonnaise. The finished salad can be decorated with herbs.

 

"Carnival" salad

Ingredients: smoked chicken – 150 g, boiled potatoes – 2 pcs., cheese – 100 g, canned peas – 100 g, Korean carrots – 100 g, mayonnaise, salt and pepper to taste, greens for decoration.

Preparation. Cut the chicken into strips, the potatoes into cubes. Grate the cheese on a coarse grater. Add the peas, Korean carrots, and mayonnaise. Mix everything thoroughly, put in a salad bowl, and garnish with herbs and grated cheese.

 

"Meat baskets"

Ingredients: minced meat - 500 g, onion - 1 pc., white bread - 3-4 slices, milk - 0.5 cups, cheese - 200 g, tomatoes - 3 pcs., oil for frying, eggs - 2 pcs., herbs and spices to taste.

Preparation. Prepare the minced meat (combine the meat, onion, egg and bread soaked in milk). Add spices and herbs. Form the cutlets (make a depression in them) and fry them. Peel the tomatoes, remove the seeds, cut into cubes, add the grated cheese and put in the depression. Grease the top with beaten yolk and place the baskets in the oven for 20 minutes at a temperature of 180–200 degrees.

 

Meat rolls

Ingredients: chicken fillet – 2 pcs., egg – 2 pcs., olives – 1 can, cheese – 100 g, mayonnaise – 2 tbsp. l., flour – 2 tbsp. l., herbs – parsley, dill to taste.

Preparation. Cut the fillet in half, but not all the way through, but as if to make a "book". Gently beat it with a culinary hammer. Salt and pepper each piece to taste, spread with mayonnaise and leave to marinate. While the meat is marinating, prepare a thin omelet from eggs and olives (to make it denser, add flour). Place the omelet on the chicken breast, cheese on top and carefully roll up the roll (to keep it, you can tie it with a thread or secure it with toothpicks). Roll the finished roll in flour and fry in oil under a closed lid on low heat (if desired, you can bake it in the oven). When the roll has cooled, remove the threads/skewers and cut into thin slices. The dish can be decorated with herbs or leftover olives/olives.

 

Christmas balls

Ingredients: chicken fillet – 300 g, cheese – 200 g, a handful of walnuts, a clove of garlic, mayonnaise – 2 tbsp. l., herbs, olives for decoration.

Preparation. Boil the fillet, finely chop it, add grated cheese, chopped herbs, nuts and garlic. Add mayonnaise and mix. Form balls and roll them in nut crumbs. Attach half an olive and a loop of herbs on top.

 

Chocolate brownies

Ingredients: flour – 100 g, dark dark chocolate – 100 g, sugar – 200 g, butter – 200 g, egg – 2 pcs., nuts for decoration.

Preparation. Melt the chocolate and butter in a water bath. Allow to cool. Beat the egg whites with sugar, add the yolks. Gradually add the flour to the chocolate mass, then the egg mass. Pour the dough into a baking dish and bake at 180 degrees for 30 minutes. When the brownie has cooled, cut it into pieces or diamonds and sprinkle with chopped nuts.

 

Mandarins in syrup

Ingredients: tangerines – 15 pcs., sake (or regular vodka) – 1 tbsp. l., sugar – 1 cup, anise (star anise) to taste, ice cream – 1 kg.

Preparation. Wash, dry and peel the tangerines. Make cuts in each, pour cold water (it should cover the citrus fruits), add anise and sake. Bring to a boil and cook for 10–15 minutes. Remove the tangerines and cool them. Add sugar, 1/3 cup of water to the tangerine broth and cook for 1–2 minutes. Cool the finished syrup and pour it over the tangerines. The dessert should be served with ice cream.

 

Fruit ice cream cake

Ingredients: vanilla ice cream – 250 g, white ice cream – 250 g, 35% cream – 60 ml, powdered sugar, bananas and oranges – 150 g, waffles – 100 g.

Preparation. Let the ice cream melt a little. Fry the bananas in a pan until golden brown. Mix the bananas with vanilla ice cream, and the oranges with white. Then put them in a baking dish in layers: bananas with vanilla ice cream, oranges with white. Decorate with whipped cream and wafer crumbs on top. Place in the freezer. Warm the dish slightly before serving (keep at room temperature for 10 minutes).
