13 ideas for winter travel: fabulous places and fun adventures

Finally, real winter has arrived: with snowfalls, frosts and a sense of wonder. Of course, for many, winter vacation is about sitting in a warm place and drinking hot tea/coffee. However, for those who love to travel in winter, we have prepared a list of places where a real winter fairy tale and exciting adventures live.

Ukrainian traditions near Kyiv

For lovers of winter in the style of ethno rest in the "Ukrainian Village" (Kyiv region). On the territory of the ethno complex there is a real old Ukrainian village with a church (it still holds services) and other buildings (on the territory of the estate there are houses from six regions of Ukraine). Here you can touch the ancient traditions, see everyday life and household items of those times. Entrance to the territory is free, the cost of excursions: 30 UAH. For guests from afar there is an ethnohotel. How to get there: from the metro station "Svyatoshino" there is bus No. 773 or by car towards the village of Mykolaivka.

In Dikanko to Gogol

Winter trips to this place are filled with mysticism and secrets. Guests seem to find themselves on the pages of Gogol's "Evenings on a Farm Near Dikanka": snow-covered streets, a mystical atmosphere, a church painted by Vakula, a stylized farm where you can feel like the Cossack Chub (and try to repeat his trick with dumplings). You can get to Dikanka by bus from Poltava or by car.

Mysterious Hutsul region

Do you want to plunge into the mystical world of the Carpathians? Then welcome to Verkhovyna and Kryvorivna. Here you can immerse yourself in the traditions of the Hutsuls, which the locals so reverently protect. And also enjoy the unique beauty of the snow-capped mountains. How to get there: by train to Ivano-Frankivsk or Vorokhta, and then by bus. For guests in Verkhovyna there is a rich selection of cottages and guest houses for every taste and budget.

Cossack entertainment

We are used to thinking that the Cossack center is Khortytsia, but the Dnipro is also famous for its Cossacks. There are three Cossack ethno-farms in the suburbs, where you can take part in numerous Cossack entertainments: horseback riding, archery and learning to wield a whip. And nearby is the Petrykivka painting estate, where anyone can master a unique technique. How to get there: by car or bus, get to the ethno-farm in the village of Grechane or to the Cossack farm "Galushkivka", near Petrykivka. Excursions and entertainment programs should be arranged in advance.

Ukrainian Geneva and fabulous Lviv

"The beautiful city of Ternopil" (also called the Ukrainian Geneva - because of the lake in the city center) turns into a fairy tale for romantics in winter. Ternopil Lake, frozen in ice, the island of Lovers and the island of Separation... An opportunity to learn the secrets that the city has no shortage of.

And having learned everything, you can go to Lviv and immerse yourself in the unique European flavor of Rynok Square, taste fragrant coffee and relax your soul. How to get there: you can get to both cities by train or autobus, and then by public transport to the city centers.

Winter Sofiivka

In winter, the park is filled with a special atmosphere of silence... Of course, at this time it is not as beautiful here as in other seasons, but for those who appreciate a promenade in an atmosphere of silence - this is a real find. It seems that a miracle is lurking somewhere and is just waiting for someone who is looking for a miracle. How to get there: you can get to Uman by bus or minibus (they arrive at the central entrance to the park).

Traveling by tram

Want to go to Pushcha-Vodytsa? Take the tram. During the three-hour journey, you will enjoy the view outside the window, the warm atmosphere (temperature inside +21) and fragrant drinks to the soft tapping of wheels and romantic, and not only, stories. Cost: 200 UAH per person. How to get there: the tram leaves from Kontraktova Square or from Obolon.

Winter landscapes of Polissya

If you are attracted by wild nature, then a trip to the Polesie Reserve is exactly what you need. You can walk along the trails of wild animals, see them in their natural environment. And also visit the open-air museum "Drevlyanske Selo", where artifacts of the people who once lived in Polesie, the Drevlyans, are preserved. You can stay in a restored log cabin with a real stove. How to get there: by car to Selezivka or use the services of excursion companies (public transport in this direction does not work well).

Sculpting pots in Opishnya

There are few people who have not heard of Opishnya ceramics or do not have products from Opishnya in their utensils. During your visit to the pottery region, you will have the opportunity not only to get acquainted with the collection of the National Museum of Ukrainian Pottery and take many photos, but also to visit a master class and create your own “masterpiece”. You can stay in a hut with a real stove and ancient Ukrainian cuisine. Tour cost: from 30 UAH. How to get there: buses leave from the bus station in Poltava. If you are traveling by car – through Poltava and Dykanka or through Lubny and Myrhorod.

Winter Mukachevo

The city under the snow resembles a gingerbread house: brown walls, white window frames and snow-glazed caps on the roofs. You can visit the famous Palanok Castle, the Honey House, the White House of the Rákóczi princes, taste delicious hot drinks and famous Transcarpathian sweets. You can stay in one of the cozy hotels of the city. How to get there: by train or bus.

Warm the bones in vats

When you watch from the sidelines bathing in Lumshory vats, it seems like you are looking at pictures of hellish torments: everything is steaming, a fire is burning under the vat and "sinners are boiling". But, in fact, this procedure is not only pleasant, but also useful. So you can lie in hot water (you will have to get used to the aroma of hydrogen sulfide), admire the beauty of snow-covered trees and improve your own health. You can stay in Lumshory in private estates (many people rent out entire houses). How to get there: to Uzhhorod by train, and then by minibus.

And for those who cannot imagine winter without skiing or snowboarding, a vacation at one of the Ukrainian ski resorts or complexes is suitable: Bukovel (Ivano-Frankivsk region), Dragobrat (Zakarpattia region), Slavske (Lviv region), Pylypets (Zakarpattia region), Myhove (Chernivtsi region), Izky (Zakarpattia region), Protasiv Yar (Kyiv city), Krasiya (Zakarpattia region), Vodyaniki (Cherkasy region), Alpine Valley (Kharkiv region) - each of them offers extreme sports enthusiasts breathtaking slopes, a sea of adrenaline and a feeling of euphoria.
