Well, friends. Half of autumn has flown by. It seems like only a moment has passed since the end of the summer holidays, and then suddenly - oh! and the autumn holidays are just around the corner. So it's time to think about how to spend this priceless time for a child with benefit and pleasure.
Is it worth going abroad? Not at all necessary! After all, there are many interesting and beautiful places in Ukraine where you can visit. That is why we have chosen for you the top 10 places that you and your little schoolchildren will definitely like. In this review, we will not go east of the Zhytomyr region. All because, in our opinion, it is the western part of Ukraine that is most conducive to "rebooting". And all thanks to the fantastic nature and architectural monuments. We hope that the residents of the central, southern and eastern regions will not be offended by us, but will be happy to go to ... :-)
Korosten, Zhytomyr region
Korosten is one of the oldest cities in Ukraine. It was founded more than 1300 years ago by the Slavic tribe of Drevlyans, and later became their center of concentration. In 946, Princess Olga, in order to avenge the murder of Prince Igor, besieged the city and annexed it to Kievan Rus.
Today, Korosten is a relatively small city, but, nevertheless, there is definitely something to see here.
First of all, visit the military-historical complex - the command post "Skelya", built in 1936 on the site of ancient Russian settlements that once existed here. It was here that Soviet soldiers held anti-fascist defense during the Great Patriotic War. Being an important military-strategic facility, the command post "Skelya" was declassified only in 2005 and now anyone can visit this unusual place.
No less fascinating for you will be a visit to the locomotive depot museum. Korosten station was built at the beginning of the last century and has since become one of the most important railway junctions in Ukraine. Starting from 1967, enthusiastic employees of the station gradually gathered a collection of rarities to create a museum, so that today we can admire the "locomotives from the past."
In addition to the above-mentioned attractions, it is also worth visiting the exhibition of Korosten porcelain, the Museum of Local Lore, take a walk through Ostrovsky Park, and, finally, take a couple of photos at the unique and unique monument ... the Derun!
Berehove, Transcarpathian region
Beregovo, or Beregsas, is a unique center of Hungarian culture in Western Ukraine. Built at the end of the 10th century, the city was repeatedly destroyed and rebuilt, and, nevertheless, today it has become one of the most beautiful and unusual cities in Ukraine, a significant part of the population of which is ethnic Hungarians, and the streets are still marked in two languages.
What is the first thing a tourist should visit in Beregovo? Start with a walk along the city's central street, which from the first second will attract you with its beauty and amazing architecture, so unusual for us, accustomed to gray Soviet buildings and twenty-story "candles".
No less impressive will be a visit to the palace-estate "Count's Court". Built in 1629 as the residence of the Transylvanian prince Gabor Bethlen, "Count's Court" is today one of the oldest buildings in the city, where daily excursions are held for curious tourists. Of particular importance are the Gothic-style cellars, which probably remain from the time when the Dominican monastery existed here until the end of the 16th century. Since 2011, a wine museum has been open here, which is also impossible to ignore.
If walking and visiting museums are not your thing, the city has several open-air thermal pools open almost all year round. So, anyone who wants to improve their health or just relax from the gray everyday life and city bustle - this is the place for you!
Palanok Castle, Mukachevo, Transcarpathian region
Those who want to feel the atmosphere of the Middle Ages, Palanok Castle will give wonderful impressions. This majestic fortress, the foundation of which was a mountain of volcanic origin, is the main attraction of the city. There is a legend that the mountain on which Palanok stands was filled with people, which cost enormous suffering; hence the name of the city - Mukachevo.
The castle was built in several stages, starting in the 11th century, but only at the end of the 17th century, under György II Rákóczi, did it acquire its current appearance.
Today, the castle is home to a historical museum and an art gallery. Daily guided tours are held here, which are interesting for both adults and children; if desired, the castle can be visited without a guide.
However, there are other interesting places in Mukachevo: St. Martin's Cathedral, St. Joseph's Chapel, Mukachevo Town Hall... In general, you can list them for a long time, because the city itself represents the most valuable cultural heritage.
If you really love beautiful architecture and would like to dedicate your trip to it, just 12 km away is the St. Miklós Castle, and a little further on, you can reach the incredibly beautiful palace of the Counts of Schönborn.
Deer farm, Iza village, Transcarpathian region
One of the most popular places in Transcarpathia is the only spotted reindeer farm in Ukraine.
The farm was established in 1987. Deer were brought here by helicopters for further breeding, this species did not previously live in Ukraine. The purpose of the farm at that time was to obtain pantocrine - an extremely valuable substance for medicine, which is extracted from deer antlers. It is absolutely safe for animals, since the antlers have the property of growing back quickly.
However, after the collapse of the Soviet Union and the fall in the average price of pantocrine, the farm experienced a significant decline and the animals began to be shot. But, fortunately, there was one kind man, Mikhail Bugash, who saved the spotted ones from death and now he is the owner of the farm. Thanks to him, the animals receive excellent care and do not starve.
Today, the farm is open to visitors all year round. After numerous requests from tourists, hand-feeding the deer was allowed (until recently, this was strictly prohibited).
The animals here are very cute, kind and funny, they are absolutely not afraid of contact with humans. So if you want to feel closer to nature and please your child - be sure to visit the Deer Farm.
Brown Bear Rehabilitation Center, Synevyr National Park, Transcarpathian region
The only one in Ukraine and even in all of Europe, the Brown Bear Rehabilitation Center was built in 2011 by decision of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine. The place for the construction of the Synevyr National Nature Park was not chosen by chance: the park's territory of 12 hectares fully complies with all environmental standards and recreates the natural habitat of bears.
The animals that come here are victims of human cruelty or natural disasters. Here they are provided with quality treatment, care from professional veterinarians, a healthy diet, and much more.
Today, the park is home to more than 10 bears. Most of them ended up here after being brutally abused by humans. Some of the bears were subjected to brutal training methods, so they still display their old habits and distrust of humans.
It is important to remember that bears are wild animals, so approaching the cage or trying to pet one of them is strictly prohibited. Throwing food to the bears is also not allowed - at the center they receive everything they need for healthy development.
There is a wonderful atmosphere in the park: you can feel that every animal is very loved and appreciated. The spectacle is very, very moving!
Rope park "Bear Lazanka", Volosyanka village, Lviv region
In the middle of endless mountain slopes, far from noise, dust and bustle, is located the largest and most extreme rope park in Ukraine, "Bear Lazy". This place is perfect for both avid tourists and thrill seekers, as well as for a pleasant family vacation.
Today, the park offers several routes of varying heights and difficulty. The most difficult route is at a height of 10 meters and consists of 22 stages. For children, there is a route at a height of 0.5 meters, which is absolutely safe and easy.
For beginners, they also offer an instructor-led service, but of course, for an additional fee.
After completing this little adventure, you will be awarded a diploma and a certificate – a small thing, but a nice one!
The park is open all year round, except in very windy weather, so you can also visit the ski resort in Slavsk, located a few minutes' drive away.
There are also other interesting places near the park: Kamyanka Waterfall, Dovbush Rock, Tustan Fortress, and many others.
Chernivtsi
Chernivtsi is one of the most popular Ukrainian cities among tourists, distinguished by the incredible beauty of architecture and the coziness of streets with cobblestone paths. This city is also very often called the Ukrainian Paris or Vienna - the atmosphere here is so ... European, pleasant, and the people are kind and responsive.
The only completely pedestrian street in the city is Olga Kobylianska Street. In 2008, for the 600th anniversary of the city, the street was completely restored. Now you can walk here, have fun, and take beautiful photos.
There is also a local history museum, the Hall of Organ and Chamber Music, and the Ukrainian Folk House, where many years ago Ivan Franko himself read his poems to an enthusiastic audience.
What else can you see in the city? Of course, the building of the Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, which was once the residence of the metropolitans of Bukovina and Dalmatia. This is an incredibly majestic and beautiful building, being in which you feel like you are on an excursion to Harvard or any other first-class university. Lovers of fairy tales and fantasy call this place the Ukrainian Hogwarts.
Another interesting attraction is the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus - a Jesuit church in the Gothic style, which is associated with many myths and legends among local residents.
Among other attractions, it is also worth mentioning the Turkish Well Square, the Chernivtsi Regional Academic Puppet Theater, twin houses, the Park of Culture and Development, and many others.
Village of Kolochava, Transcarpathian region
Kolochava is a large and beautiful village in Transcarpathia, located in a mountain valley, not far from Synevyr Park. Here you and your child can enjoy the fresh air, look at the beautiful mountain landscapes, and also feel the hospitality of the local residents. Most importantly, Kolochava is a village of 10 museums, so when you go on vacation here, you definitely won’t be bored.
The most interesting museum in our opinion is the “Old Village”. It is best to walk around the museum accompanied by a guide; these are mostly local, simple guys who will tell you everything from A to Z and give you a lot of emotions thanks to their openness and sense of humor.
There is another museum nearby - Kolochava Narrow Gauge Railway. There are not many exhibits here, but you can compensate for this with the opportunity to ride a trolleybus, if you still remember what it is :-).
Among others, the following should be noted first of all: the Museum of the Arpad Line (the defense line of the Hungarians against the Soviet army), the Steyer Bunker, the Museum of the Church of the Holy Spirit, and the Museum "To the Internationalist Soldiers".
You can spend the evening in one of the local colorful establishments, try Carpathian wine and delicious home-made cuisine.
Lviv
Three things can be done endlessly: watch water flowing, fire burning and ... talk about how beautiful Lviv is. This is a beautiful city with a centuries-old history, covered with hundreds of secrets and mysteries. There are an incredible number of different monuments, parks, churches, museums, and cathedrals. Therefore, we will limit ourselves to a brief description of the places that you need to visit in this city.
First, Castle Hill. The climb up there will take 15 minutes, and it's completely free, and from the top you can admire a beautiful panoramic view of the entire city.
Secondly, the same Dominican Cathedral and Monastery, one of the most famous monuments of Baroque architecture in Lviv.

Kamianets-Podilskyi, Khmelnytskyi region
Kamianets-Podilskyi was built in the Middle Ages at the crossroads of trade routes. Today, many old buildings have been preserved here, the oldest of which date back to the 11th century.
Many call this city a "flower on a rock" because it is located on a rocky peninsula in the valley of the Smotrych River, and from a bird's eye view, Kamianets-Podilskyi is truly a flower of extraordinary beauty.
Kamianets-Podilskyi Fortress is a huge structure, on the territory of which today there is a museum, which is visited daily by crowds of tourists. This fortress is part of the Old Town.
In this part of the city, it is also worth taking a walk around the central square, visiting the City Hall, and, finally, visiting the Church of the Holy Archangels Peter and Paul.
For those who want to experience extreme sports and see the city from above, there is a unique opportunity to descend from a cliff on a tightrope. The feeling of lightness of flight and the enjoyment of picturesque landscapes will become vivid memories of your vacation.
