Beach vacation among the mountains, or TOP-8 Carpathian lakes

Beach vacation among the mountains, or TOP-8 Carpathian lakes

When we go on vacation in the Carpathians, we expect to relax among ski resorts, picturesque landscapes, on hiking trails, among castles. However, this is not all the wealth of the Carpathians - they can please a connoisseur of water-related recreation with more than 130 lakes with a variety of characteristics. Some reservoirs are located in the mountains, which significantly complicates the way to them. However, among them there are those that are completely ennobled by civilization and with an easy way to them. Usually they are located in local resort villages, or close to them.

We will be happy to introduce you to this Carpathian beauty, with lakes that you can either admire or have a great time relaxing and swimming in. This can be a great replacement for the usual vacation on the sea coast.

Lake of Youth

This lake is located in one of the resort villages - in Bukovel, Ivano-Frankivsk region. This lake became especially popular in 2015, literally acquiring the status of a fashion trend for those who want to relax within a small family budget. This reservoir is quite large in size and has an artificial nature, its water is transparent and clean, and manages to warm up to 20 degrees under the local mountain sun. You would not notice the difference from a seaside vacation, if not for the pine aroma that a light breeze brings from the nearest forests. This alone reminds you of the mountains and forests around.

Synevyr

Synevyr is considered one of the most beautiful lakes in the Transcarpathian region, and it is also the largest in these places. It is located in the Synevyr National Park, which means that fishing is prohibited here, as are other lake inhabitants. But you can safely swim here, but it is worth remembering that it is more suitable for lovers of cold water - its water does not warm up to the full depth due to its large size.

Solotvino

Solotvino is a salt lake, so people usually come here to improve their health, because local lakes, in addition to natural beauty and clean water, also have a special chemical composition with healing properties. The village is located almost on the border with Romania, it is developed as a resort and will provide you with various types of recreation.

Tereble-Ritsk Reservoir

The lake is located in the Khust district of the Transcarpathian region. It is surrounded by almost wild, untouched nature, and its dimensions – 9 km long and 1 km wide – allow it to be called the Transcarpathian Sea. The lake is rich in various species of fish. One problem – the more tourists learn about this place and visit it, the faster it is polluted with garbage.

Wild mountain lakes

Among the lakes that tourists love to visit, there are also lakes in very difficult to reach places and high in the mountains.

Lake Nesamovyte

This is a very beautiful lake, hidden high in the mountains, you can get to it only by walking along the steep slopes of the mountains for several kilometers. The beginning of the path can be found in the village of Vorokhta, Ivano-Frankivsk region. The lake itself is quite shallow and small in size, but no one who has visited these parts has been disappointed.

Lake Maricheyka

Not far from the Romanian border, literally a few kilometers away, is a friendly lake 88 km long and 45 km wide. It is located on the slope of Mount Shurin, located in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, in a forest among the mountains. In a couple of hours' walk you can find the village of Šibene.

Lake Apshinets

Not far from Mount Troyaska lies this wonderful reservoir. It is clearly visible from the top of the mountain, and besides the view, it will give the tourist a great time - either just relaxing nearby, or swimming in the lake itself. Even if it is not for long, because the water in the lake warms up only to 13 degrees. But on the way to the lake you can take a day trip, and on horseback. The nearest settlement is the village of Chorna Tysa, Transcarpathian region.

Lake Vorozheska

Next to Lake Apshinets is Lake Vorozheska, approaching the first in terms of temperature – the water heats up to 12 degrees and no more. But this feature is more than compensated by its beautiful views – it is considered one of the most beautiful lakes.

In addition to the lakes that we have already introduced you to, there are also quite nice and friendly lakes for recreation - Donyaska, Dragobratske, Brebeneskul, Lipovetske, Syne and many, many others.
