Wellness vacation "at home", or the 15 best resorts in Ukraine

Wellness vacation "at home", or the 15 best resorts in Ukraine

The hectic pace of life, not entirely healthy food and lifestyle, stress and other "charms" of the modern world encourage you to relax, and sometimes even get better, regardless of the season or the weather outside the window. And if not everyone can afford even a budget vacation abroad, then traveling to interesting places in Ukraine is easy! It is especially good that in our country there are a number of health resorts that are visited even by foreigners. After all, a special microclimate, clean, often saturated with the aroma of trees and herbs, air, picturesque mountains and rivers, healing mineral waters and mud are an invaluable treasure of Ukrainian nature.

Having reviewed the most popular and famous resorts in Ukraine, we have compiled our list of places where you can have a good rest, gain strength and treat chronic diseases in nature. It is also interesting that you can relax at these resorts almost all year round and each time get unforgettable impressions and discover these places from new, unknown angles.

1. Myrhorod, Poltava region

Let's start our review with a well-known and popular resort not only in Ukraine, but also far beyond its borders - Myrhorod. The Myrhorod resort is located in the Poltava region, and although the history of this health resort is less than a century old, unlike Morshyn or Truskavets, this is not reflected in the popularity of this place.

The Myrhorod resort is famous for its peat mud and unique mineral water, which in its properties is not inferior to Aachen, Baden-Baden, or Soden waters.

The resort is located in the city of Myrhorod and specializes in the treatment of the following diseases: diseases and problems of the gastrointestinal tract - chronic colitis, gastritis, various diseases of the liver, gallbladder and others; metabolism and problems with the endocrine system, including diabetes; diseases of the musculoskeletal system and nervous system.

2. The famous Morshyn, Lviv region

The second on our list is Morshyn – one of the oldest balneological resorts (a balneological resort is a place where certain diseases are treated with the help of natural mineral or thermal springs, therapeutic mud or healing baths) of Ukraine. This resort is located 85 kilometers from the city of Lviv and specializes in diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, namely: gastric and duodenal ulcers, chronic colitis, gastritis, hepatitis, cholecystitis, pancreatitis, biliary dyskinesia, etc.

3. Solotvyne resort in Transcarpathia

In the village of Solotvyne, Transcarpathian region, there is a salt lake Kunigunda, which is compared to the Dead Sea in terms of its beneficial properties and salt concentration. Solotvyne is a great place to strengthen the respiratory system, because here you can breathe clean mountain air saturated with lake salts, swim in the healing waters of reservoirs and enjoy mud baths. Solotvyne specializes in the treatment of respiratory diseases, including tuberculosis, asthma and allergic diseases; nervous system, urological problems and diseases of the musculoskeletal system.

4. Skhidnytsia, Lviv region

In the middle of a picturesque valley in the forested area of the Carpathian Mountains lies the resort village of Skhidnytsia. This is a unique place, because it is here that 38 sources of natural mineral water are located. Each source has a unique composition, among them there are iron-rich waters or bromine waters, analogues of which are very few on the planet. Another feature of this resort is that services and accommodation are provided mostly by local residents or owners of private estates, but this adds a special charm and attractiveness to such a vacation. And although there are many healing springs here, they are located at a fairly large distance from each other, so we advise you to take this fact into account when choosing accommodation, so that getting to the desired source is convenient and not too long, because no one has canceled the queues for mineral waters. :)

The resort specializes in: diseases of the gastrointestinal tract (chronic colitis, ulcers, gastritis, etc.), liver, biliary tract (especially for patients suffering from gallstone disease, chronic hepatitis and cholecystitis), genitourinary system (in particular: urolithiasis, uric acid diathesis, etc.), endocrine system (problems related to metabolic disorders, diabetes mellitus).

5. Truskavets, Lviv region

Only a deaf person has heard of the Truskavets resort in Ukraine, it is one of the most famous and popular health resorts in the country. And this is not surprising, because it is here that there are 14 deposits of mineral waters unique in their chemical composition, and the famous Naftusya water originates precisely here. The waters that Truskavets is rich in, in terms of their properties, are not inferior to Karlovy Vary, Baden-Baden or other resorts.

In Truskavets, they help in the treatment of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, kidneys, genitourinary system, endocrine system, in particular diabetes mellitus, and help with diseases of the musculoskeletal system.

6. Khmilnyk, Vinnytsia region

In Vinnytsia region, near the picturesque Southern Bug River and among picturesque natural views, there is a resort called Khmilnyk, which is famous for its special radon water and healing peat mud. The healing properties of local mineral waters are due to a rare phenomenon - the content of inert radon gas in them. During treatment, radon water is consumed orally and baths are taken with it.

The main areas of treatment at this resort are diseases of the nervous, cardiovascular and endocrine systems, gynecological problems and diseases of the musculoskeletal system.

7. Cherche, Ivano-Frankivsk region

The Cherche balneological resort is famous for its deposits of unique mineral waters – calcium sulfate and calcium hydrogen sulfide. Hydrogen sulfide waters are used for therapeutic baths, and calcium sulfate waters are used for oral administration.

Treatment in Cherche will be appropriate for those who suffer from diseases of the musculoskeletal system (especially arthritis, arthrosis, osteochondrosis), have gynecological problems, or diseases of the nervous or vascular systems.

8. Shayan, Transcarpathian region

On the slopes of the Vygorlat-Hutynsky, or, as it is often called, the Uzhgorod-Khustsky ridge, in the small village of Shayan, Transcarpathian region, is the Shayan balneological resort. This place is interesting for its mineral waters, which contain metasilicic acid. According to experts, such a chemical composition of the Shayan resort waters allows it to be equated with the famous Armenian resort of Dilijan, and the presence of hydrocarbons in the composition of the waters makes its healing properties similar to the famous "Vichy-Celeston", "Essentuki" and "Borjomi".

Shayan is a great place to solve problems with diseases of the stomach and pancreas, gallbladder and biliary tract, metabolism, genitourinary system, and intoxications.

9. Polyana, Svalyavskyi district, Transcarpathian region

A resort specializing in the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases in remission phases (gastritis, enteritis, enterocolitis, ulcers, chronic colic and digestive disorders), liver diseases and mild and moderate diabetes mellitus with mineral waters.

10. Solochyn, Transcarpathian region

Solochyn is a wonderful place where you can combine medical procedures with skiing (in winter, of course), because it is located between two mountains. Solochyn has 15 mineral water springs, most of which are located at the beginning of the settlement, and at the picturesque foot of Mount Tesanyk there is a spring with healing hydrogen sulfide water.

In Solochyna, chronic diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, endocrine system, concomitant diseases of the cardiovascular, central and peripheral nervous systems, and problems of the musculoskeletal system are treated.

11. Berehove, Transcarpathian region

The Beregovo resort is famous for its thermal springs, where wells with natural hot water rich in iron are constantly operating. Two lakes located on the resort's territory also have thermal springs of high mineralization. Similar reservoirs can be found in Iceland, Hungary and in the Far East, in Kamchatka and Sakhalin. You can enjoy swimming in thermal mineral waters on the territory of the Zakarpattia training and sports base, where there is a swimming pool with such water. This pool is filled with natural silicon-nitrogen-carbon dioxide-chloride-sodium waters of high mineralization from a geyser 1080 meters deep. This chemical composition of the water helps to destroy most pathogenic microbes. Another feature of this pool is that the water is not filtered when filled, which is why it has a dirty brown color and seems cloudy, which allows you to preserve all the healing properties of the water from this geyser. However, when taking water treatments in the pool, remember that staying in it for more than 2 hours a day is not recommended by doctors, as this can lead to loss of consciousness. Short-term stays in these thermal waters have a positive effect on well-being.

Treatment at the Bregovo resort is recommended for people with diseases of the musculoskeletal system, cardiovascular system, urological problems, patients with hypertension, and diseases of the nervous system.

12. Resort Velykyi Lyubin, Lviv region

The picturesque village of Velikiy Lubin is famous for being one of the oldest resorts in Europe. Mentions of treatment with water from hydrogen sulfide springs in this region were described in the 16th century by the personal physician of the Polish king Stefan Batory. Today, a sanatorium of the same name operates here, where health procedures are carried out using hydrogen sulfide mineral water of the "Matsesta" type and healing peat mud.

Velikiy Lubin specializes in the treatment of diseases of the circulatory system, gynecological problems and diseases, the nervous system, skin and subcutaneous tissue, musculoskeletal system and connective tissue, and post-treatment after acute myocardial infarction. It is also one of the few places where children aged 4 and over with cerebral palsy are treated with high-quality care.

13. Medobory, Ternopil region

Medobory is not just a health resort, it is a unique geological and botanical monument, which has no analogues in our country. Medobory is a real natural treasure trove of healing factors. The health-improving climate and favorable microclimatic conditions are formed here thanks to the Podilsky Tovtra. This natural corner of picturesque beauty is also rich in healing waters.

In the sanatorium of the same name, hydrogen sulfide (similar in properties to the popular "Matsesta" water), sodium chloride iodobromine water, blue clay, and hydrocarbonate peat mud are used for treatment and rehabilitation.

The main specialization of sanatorium treatment in Medobory: cardiovascular diseases, diseases of the digestive system, peripheral and central nervous systems, diseases of the endocrine system and metabolic problems, gynecological diseases and infertility, skin diseases.

14. Golubine, Transcarpathian region

The main wealth of the Golubyne resort is the well-known Ukrainian mineral carbonated bicarbonate-sodium waters "Polyana Kvasova", "Polyana Kupil" and "Luzhanska".

Golubine is a great place for healing people with digestive diseases, diseases of the nervous, endocrine, muscular and genitourinary systems, and metabolic problems.

15. Sergiyevka, Odesa region

The Odessa region is most often associated with a holiday at sea, but there is also a unique resort in its nature, Sergiyevka. The main feature of this place is that the settlement is divided into several parts by an estuary with healing mud. The main part of the village of Sergiyevka is located on the mainland, this is where public places, sanatoriums, hotels and cafes are located. You can reach the sea from here on foot, having overcome the bridge over the estuary, which is often called the "kilometer of health". For those who do not like long walks on foot, there is a boat. In general, people come to Sergiyevka for treatment with mud, these procedures are especially useful for problems and diseases of the musculoskeletal system. The sanatorium here offers a full range of various procedures aimed at the treatment and rehabilitation of people with such problems.

Concluding the description of Ukrainian resorts, we would like to note that in order to achieve the expected effect, you need to undergo procedures at least 7-10 times, which is why spa packages can be purchased for at least 10 days.

In general, we wish you good health and an unforgettable vacation!!!
