What can you eat at night?

What can you eat at night?

Whether you're losing weight or not, eating before bed isn't very healthy. But is it worth going hungry if you're craving a late-night meal?

Nutritionists agree that this is not necessary at all. Another thing is that it is best to choose the right products for a late dinner, that is, those that will improve the quality of sleep and will not harm the figure.

Fresh vegetables

Any type of leaf lettuce, cucumbers, bell peppers, celery are low-calorie sources of complex carbohydrates, water, fiber, and water-soluble vitamins. The latter are necessary for the formation of skin cells, which occurs at night.

To provide the body with energy for nighttime metabolism, you need to eat quite a lot of such a salad – about 200-250 g. You can combine fresh vegetables with a couple of tablespoons of whole grains (buckwheat, brown rice, quinoa).

Fish and seafood

Of course, any seafood is good, but squid is the most dietary option, which is not only a valuable source of protein, but also contains a lot of iodine. This trace element is necessary for the normal functioning of the thyroid gland, which maintains a certain metabolic rate.

Also, low-fat varieties of fish are suitable for a late dinner - cod, pike, hake.

Fruits, especially sour green apples

All fruits at night are good, except, perhaps, grapes. Grapes contain a lot of sugar. Nutritionists especially note apples, which are better to bake for dinner. The main component of apples is water-soluble fiber (pectin), which is food for beneficial bacteria in the intestines.

Fermented milk products

Kefir, cottage cheese, and plain yogurt are all sources of protein that is easily digestible, doesn’t burden the body, and doesn’t cause weight gain. The main rule is that you can’t add sugar to any of these products!

Milk

Warm milk before bed is a classic. It contains not only nutritious protein, but also the amino acid tryptophan, which is calming and relaxing. And the better you sleep, the lower the risk of wanting to replenish your body's energy reserves with harmful carbohydrate foods the next day.

Stewed vegetables

After heat treatment, the fiber from vegetables is more easily digested. Vegetables can be boiled or cooked in a slow cooker. They will work as a natural sorbent - they will remove toxins and toxins from the intestines. The main rule is to cook without oil and salt.

Berries

Calories are minimal, but vitamins and antioxidants are in huge quantities. Fiber and pectins will also stimulate the intestines. It is especially good to eat cherries before bedtime, as they contain melatonin.

Eggs

This is also a source of healthy protein. The best option is a couple of hard-boiled eggs or an omelet made with tomatoes and herbs. Of course, this is an option if you are very hungry, but kefir cannot help.

Poultry meat

Chicken or turkey meat is a source of vitamins A, E, B and a whole range of minerals. Poultry meat has practically no carbohydrates, so you don't have to worry about your figure. Steam or boil the meat, add fresh vegetables.

Sandwiches

But not with a loaf of bread, of course. As a snack, experts suggest using diet (grain, for example) bread with a spoonful of nut butter or low-fat cheese.

Nuts

Almonds, cashews and pecans are especially good, but walnuts are also fine. The high magnesium content helps relax the body. And peanuts are NOT nuts, remember.

Cheeses

Cheeses do not contain carbohydrates, so they are not so dangerous for the figure. True, they contain fats. Therefore, it is better to choose light, low-fat varieties at night, combining them with fresh vegetables if possible.

Cereal side dish

Porridge perfectly satisfies hunger at any time of the day. However, it should be remembered that it is advisable to cook cereals not in milk, but in water, without adding salt, sugar, and especially jam. They can be replaced with a small amount of honey or dried fruits.

Sushi

Is it okay to eat rolls and sushi at night? The answer is simple: look at the Japanese :-)

Sushi is a low-calorie and healthy food. However, it must be perfectly fresh. And don't overdo the soy sauce.
