Office dress code: strict framework or endless possibilities?

Office dress code: strict framework or endless possibilities?

What to wear to work? How to create your own business style? How to bring your wardrobe into line with office requirements? How to maintain brightness and individuality without turning into "our mimra"? Read about it in our article.

Despite the fact that over the past 10 years we have seen a clear democratization of clothing, there are now many companies and industries in which sneakers would be, to put it mildly, inappropriate and even shocking.

Here, both well-known banks, law firms and government agencies, as well as some companies, regardless of their field of activity, have found it convenient to offer their employees a business dress code. In addition, many women independently choose office bows in their own style and follow it.

The basic wardrobe of a modern business lady working in the office necessarily includes dresses, blouses, skirts, trousers, suits. Remember that even the most boring and strict requirements can always be refreshed with an intricate cut, extravagant combinations and bright accessories. So.

"White Top"

For an office style, you should have several white blouses in your closet. You should choose shades of white that perfectly match your skin and hair. It can be milky, pearly, grayish, ivory, white, ashy, and others.

To create a basic foundation, we recommend purchasing a classic shirt, a romantic blouse, a turtleneck, and their short-sleeved variations.

This season, it is fashionable to choose cotton shirts decorated with ruffles, frills and decor from the main material. However, this does not exclude either silk blouses or knitted ones.

In addition to strict and restrained white, it is worth adding some colors to your wardrobe. Traditionally, bright colors are not always appropriate for a business style. Therefore, blouses, shirts and tops in various pastel shades can be a universal option.

In order not to turn into a "blue stocking", we recommend diversifying your style through fabrics, prints, cuts, and accessories.

"Black Bottom"

Pants. Classic. And they should fit perfectly. But choose the style to your taste and look at fashion trends. In fact, the color is not so important - black, blue, gray or beige. It is desirable that there are at least a couple of pairs of them, and, of course, made of high-quality material.

In addition to the usual tapered or straight pants, culottes – wide, cropped trousers reaching mid-calf – have been popular for a couple of seasons now. This is a bold style, which, however, only suits tall girls.

Pencil, trapezoid and tulip

A win-win option for the office is a pencil skirt of moderate length. The style should be perfect for your figure: at the waist or on the hips, with or without pockets, with additional decorative elements or without them at all. You can wear it with peplum. And you remember the colors of the "black bottom" :)

PS And there are also shorts. Yes, business and for the office.

"The main thing is that the suit fits"

We recommend that business women have at least two suits in their closet: one with trousers and one with a skirt. This wardrobe item has a huge advantage over others: it becomes the center of attention when you don't know what to choose or doubt the appropriateness of your look.

The easiest way to dress up a suit is with accessories. A jacket can be replaced with a vest or a top that doesn't include a blouse. And, by the way, you can play with color, sometimes even boldly. Just look at Angela Merkel and Theresa May.

We don't have a lot of costumes in our assortment yet, but you can still take a look here .

The crown of fashionable creation

A dress is a universal soldier. With its help, you can beat any mood and emphasize the necessary nuances. There are practically no tips and taboos regarding styles and colors. Even a short or bright dress can be balanced for the office with a pastel jacket and laconic shoes. So choose based on your own taste and body type.

The only things that will be inappropriate are floral floor-length sundresses and cocktail or evening models. A must-have style will be a sheath dress that is knee-length or shorter, about a palm's width.

By the way, the office dress code is a pretty good thing for ladies who have complexes about their curvaceous forms. After all, often a fitted jacket and a well-chosen dress are both a must-have and a cool look. Definitely better than the Diva's hoodies. Believe me. You can adopt it even for those whose bosses are liberal.

And if it's freer...

If your company doesn't have a strict business style policy, you can experiment with jeans and jumpers. Of course, ripped boyfriend jeans are not suitable for business style.

In our opinion, classic blue jeans, a discreet turtleneck and, for example, a jacket on top is one of the ideal office looks.

Knitted jumpers are a great option for winter. They can be worn over a shirt. But with jeans or a strict skirt, it's up to you.

All the style is in the details

Accessories are the logical conclusion of any look. The main ones are a bag and shoes. You shouldn't skimp on details: firstly, cheapness is always noticeable and does not match the status of a businesswoman, and secondly, you will often have to run around for new clothes.

Choose one or two basic medium-sized bags in different colors. Light and black, for example. Frame models are best suited for a business style. In most cases, you should say a definite “no” to huge shoppers and tiny clutches.

As for shoes, a win-win choice is black or beige pumps with a stable, medium-height heel.

Loafers and brogues, which burst into fashion a few years ago, will also help you create a stylish look. If you're in the mood, you can "play around" with creating deliberately masculine looks by wearing them under a strict trouser suit and tie.

By the way, if you are a fan of stilettos, please bring another pair to the office – ballet flats or moccasins. You can sit in them at the desk, and change into “beautiful” shoes for meetings. Your feet will be grateful for this life hack.

And in winter, don't be lazy to bring a change of shoes - this way you will preserve your style, your boots, and the health of your feet.

The rule that the color of shoes and bags match has been almost completely eliminated today. It is considered too boring and conservative. Looks with accessories of fundamentally different colors look fresh. And even business style does not exclude a bright accent in the form of a bag, for example.

However, always remember your inner state. Clothes and accessories should be in perfect harmony with your self-esteem. Only then will you look truly extraordinary and confident.

Additional accessories include scarves, jewelry, belts, ties, and watches. In office style, they should be very discreet and inconspicuous. A definite style is large rings and necklaces, colorful scarves, and rhinestone decor.

Remember that sometimes boring basic things can be advantageously highlighted with fashionable accessories that fully reflect current trends.
