How to choose bangs according to your face shape

How to choose bangs according to your face shape

To have bangs or not is an eternal question that lasts a lifetime.

On the eve of spring, we always want changes in ourselves, because they are happening all around us. The frosts are weakening, nature is awakening and we are in anticipation of a warm, bright and colorful season. With warmth comes mood, energy, ideas and a desire to create something new, even a new hairstyle. Some people dare to make radical changes such as a completely new and unusual hair color or a stylish short hairstyle instead of long braids. But, sometimes it is enough to make very small changes to your appearance so that your image sparkles with new colors.

In order to determine the most accurate shape and length of bangs for yourself, you must first determine the shape of your face. After all, what suits one person perfectly may not suit another at all. This can be done at home with the help of a few simple manipulations:

To start, you will need a large mirror, approximately large enough to allow you to see your entire body, including your neck.

Make sure you have daylight. It will most accurately convey the shape of your face in the image. While artificial light can create shadows that make some parts appear larger or smaller.

Pull your hair back so that your face is as open as possible.

Stand or sit in front of a mirror. Straighten your back and look straight ahead. Make sure your chin is also “looking” straight, don’t raise it or lower it.

Grab a measuring tape or ruler, a piece of paper, and a pencil. You'll need them later to record your measurements.

How to take measurements?

Measure the widest part of your forehead. This is the area that starts at your eyebrows and ends at your hairline at the top. Measure the width along your hairline at your temples, from one edge to the other.

Measure your cheekbones. They are located just below the outer corners of your eyes. Find the most prominent part of your cheekbone and measure the distance from one to the other.

Measure the distance from the corners of your lower jaw to your chin. Place a tape measure between these two points to the middle of your chin. Do the same on the other side and add the results together to get your total jaw length.

Measure the overall height of your face. This should be the distance from the center of your hairline to the tip of your chin.

The obtained measurements are correlated with each other, and the proportions of the face with the proportions of the most common shapes.

How to determine your face shape?

Each face shape has certain characteristic proportions. We will tell you which ones are specific to each shape below:

OVAL. The widest point is the cheekbones. The face itself has an average width, narrowing in the forehead and chin area. However, it should be noted that the chin itself is not sharp or narrow.

CIRCLE. The length of the face is almost the same as the width. This shape is characterized by smooth, vaguely defined features. The chin line has rounded and soft outlines.

SQUARE. The width of the cheekbones, forehead, and chin are almost equal. The chin has sharp and pronounced outlines.

RECTANGLE. The shape is similar in description to the previous one, but the face is more elongated.

PEAR (TRIANGLE) The chin is wider than the forehead and cheekbones, the face becomes narrower from the temples upwards.

RHOMBUS. The cheekbones are the widest part of the face, often having a pointed appearance. The forehead and chin are narrower than the cheekbones. The chin may also be slightly pointed.

HEART (INVERTED TRIANGLE). . The upper part of the face is wider than the lower part. The cheekbones are much wider than the chin. The latter, in turn, is narrow and pointed.

How to choose bangs?

Now that you know your face shape, you can easily choose a bang that will beautifully complement and emphasize it.

For an oval face shape, bangs of almost any shape and length will suit. After all, this is the most universal face shape and we can consider that its owner has pulled out a lucky ticket. Ragged bangs to the middle of the forehead, thick long, oblique and even short will suit. Of course, the proportions even in an oval shape may differ slightly from the shape in its standard representation. Therefore, if the face has a narrow forehead, you should abandon a smooth hairstyle with a straight parting. A great alternative would be oblique bangs with a cascading haircut. If the face has a slightly elongated shape, then it is better to choose elongated bangs and haircuts. If the forehead is high, straight bangs will suit well.

When choosing bangs for a round face, there is a fairly clear task - to "stretch" the face and bring it closer to the ideal oval. Therefore, we recommend giving preference to oblique torn bangs or straight ones, but with elongated strands on the side. You should beware of bangs that are too long and French, which start from the very top. Also, thick and wide ones will not suit you very much.

Owners of a square face shape should look at elongated bangs that will cover the forehead on both sides. Thick bangs or oblique and long ones will also work. The latter will visually round and lengthen the face. Multi-layered ones, with a length at the level of the cheekbones, will look good. But straight bangs of any length will only emphasize sharp corners. An important rule in choosing hairstyles for this face shape is the absence of smoothness and a straight parting.

For women with a rectangular face shape, it would be a good idea to avoid volume at the crown. When choosing bangs, you should pay attention to those that will visually shorten the face and cover the forehead.

If you have a triangular face shape , you should pay attention to classic straight bangs or elongated oblique bangs. Regardless of the length of your hair, elongated bangs with volume on top will be a win-win option.

Owners of a diamond-shaped face are advised to look at elongated thin bangs with a straight parting and a slanting bang, reaching the middle of the cheekbones. In order to balance a narrow chin and reduce the width of the cheekbones, it is not advisable to do haircuts or hairstyles that will create volume in these areas. It is worth avoiding smooth and flat structures, as well as the option of long slanting bangs.

The main task when correcting the shape of the face with the help of a hairstyle here will be to widen the lower part of the face. Ladies with a heart-shaped face are advised to pay attention to thick elongated bangs, but long and thin, which will end below the jaw. Bangs in combination with a straight parting should be avoided.

Features

Straight and even bangs. It can be of any length depending on your preferences and face shape. Such bangs are not trimmed, because their design requires a clear and neat cut. It is this cut that allows you to make the look more strict. But, be prepared for the fact that the bangs will have to be styled every day so that the hairstyle looks incomparable. Also, in order for the shape not to deteriorate, it will need to be trimmed often, about once every one and a half to two weeks.

The oblique bangs are one of the most versatile, as they suit almost all face shapes and go well with any hair length. They are easy to maintain and when styling your hair, you can change their length if you wish by simply parting your hair to the other side. Also, this type of bangs will be comfortable to grow out if you get bored with it.

Graduated or layered bangs, depending on the cut, can be made soft and smooth or uneven with a touch of sass. It will help you look fresher and younger. Such bangs will be useful for fans of an active lifestyle, because they will not interfere with the eyes.

A voluminous bang is perfect for those with thick, dense hair. You won't need to style it much. If you have fine, soft hair, it will also work well, but you'll need to use a hairdryer and a large round hairbrush to style it.

Short or ultra-short bangs will give the image a childish spontaneity and charm, because they are often worn by children. But, choosing this option for yourself, it is worth considering that such bangs will look good only on a thin face.

When choosing bangs, it is worth considering several factors that are inextricably linked, namely:

– face shape

– hair structure

– individual facial features

– and even facial skin type

If you correctly consider all these factors, you can radically change your image, emphasize all the advantages of your face, or at least experiment for a few months and enjoy your new self.
