The main trends of the spring-summer season

The main trends of the spring-summer season

Fashion has long stopped calling for a wardrobe revolution. However, to look modern, it is worth studying fresh trends. We have collected the main trends of the coming season, among which are lightness, brightness and unobtrusive historical motifs.

Polo

This season, variations on the polo shirt theme are more popular than ever. Polo shirts can be sporty and classic, bright and pastel. They are appropriate to wear in any situation: for a walk with jeans, to the office with a business suit, and even to a party with an evening skirt. Judging by the fashion shows, polo shirts can even be guipure, and they should be combined with stilettos and sundresses.

By and large, designers are reinterpreting the banal T-shirt as much as possible, using its features in blouses, dresses, and business shirts. The small collar and a few buttons remain unchanged.

Tropical patterns

Tropical prints have been popular for a couple of seasons now, but this spring they have taken their place at the top of the fashion Olympus. Giant palm trees, vines, bright and abstract flowers, greenery of all shades, and amazing birds will decorate your wardrobe, replacing other floral prints.

Premium brands such as Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, Marni, Fendi have included fabrics with bright Sicilian jungle motifs in their collections.

Deep neckline

This year, all attention is focused on the neckline. Deep and very deep V-necks that extend all the way to the waist are in fashion. Such models lengthen the neck, balance and stretch the silhouette, and are especially suitable for owners of a small bust.

If you like other neckline shapes, pay attention to the options from the 90s: off-the-shoulder, square or asymmetrical. Such models are present in almost all collections of fashion houses this season.

Transparent and sexy

Sometimes even too much, as can be seen from the new collections of famous fashion designers. Guipure, mesh, lace...

We certainly don't suggest exposing your breasts, as in the collections of Valentino, Saint Laurent and Alberta Ferretti, but modesty is clearly not in fashion. Transparency gives lightness to your image, and the Instagram era demands sexuality.

Floral prints

Flowers are an essential part of the spring-summer wardrobe. Examples of this are the outfits from Erdem, Chloe and many other leading couturiers. Some of them recalled the 70s with small buds, others decorated their clothes with giant flowers. Both options are extremely popular, but if you don't want to cover yourself from head to toe in flowers, then make a bright floral accent part of your look by choosing a light scarf or even shoes with a floral pattern.

Lantern sleeves

The sharp shoulder pads of the 80s were replaced by lantern sleeves – lush round puffs, especially when combined with a stand-up collar. Designers were clearly inspired by the fashion of the Victorian era. The variety of styles deserves a separate article, but we will just briefly describe them.

For example, a zhigo is a long sleeve, puffy above the elbow, gradually tapering to the wrist. “Juliet” is a style with puffy round lanterns at the shoulder and narrow, tight-fitting long sleeves. The pleated lantern sleeves look as if several puffs were sewn one after the other. “Pagoda” resembles butterfly wings due to the extended cut on the shoulders, and “bishop” is the most classic style with long voluminous falling sleeves that end with a narrow cuff, creating a puff closer to the hands. The last style on our list is “tulip”. As you might guess from the name, this is the most lush style, resembling huge bouquets of the same name flowers.

Overall, the choice is yours. One thing is clear: tight sleeves are not in fashion right now.

Trench coat is on trend

It seems that the classic double-breasted trench coat is a garment for all times. Moreover, the colors of trench coats for the spring-summer 2020 season do not particularly stand out from the classics: 50 shades of beige, variations on the theme of olive and menthol, brown models. But designers are boldly experimenting with fabrics, textures, cut and accessories.

For example, Oscar de la Renta decorated his cloaks with Richelieu embroidery, Michael Kors adorned his models with the aforementioned puff sleeves, and the Japanese brand Sacai used a coarse braided cord instead of the classic belt with a buckle.

Another fresh trend is length. In contrast to the usual midi, almost floor-length trench coats are gaining popularity.

Total denim

Jeans are incredibly fashionable, but everything hanging in our closet is losing relevance (we're shocked too!). As for pants, the 2020 fashion resurrects "pipes", "bananas" and "flares". The colors are contrasting "boilers" and all kinds of pastel shades: peach, lavender, mint, pale blue.

But you can't limit yourself to jeans. Oversized shirts, long pencil skirts, vests, and even caps are in trend. And you can wear everything at the same time :-)

Orange, blue, gold

Of course, this is not an exhaustive list of popular colors, but the brightest ones. “Orange peel” or “orange tiger” attract all the attention. Many designers have used this “tasty” color in new collections, especially for summer dresses. After all, summer should be bright, juicy and cheerful!

Blue is popular in a classic, rich shade reminiscent of exquisite sapphires. Blue skirts, dresses, suits, and hats are in fashion, and special attention should be paid to formal and evening attire in this royal color.

The golden hue of Christmas garlands is another bold must-have this season. And while we used to choose golden accessories, now full-fledged outfits, especially dresses and jackets, are in trend.

The 90s are back

This trend is artificially created and popular again thanks to music. Rave, like 30 years ago, captured the minds and hearts of young people, the Spice Girls announced their reunion, and one of the most popular singers, Billie Eilish, reincarnates neon shades, jeans with chains and deliberate logomania.

Crimson jackets are out of fashion, but feel free to take other attributes of that era out of your closets or look for them at second-hand stores. Madness, grunge, eclecticism, and the style of Beverly Hills heroes are the right cocktail for the upcoming season!

Three-piece suits

Connoisseurs of classics will love elegant sets. However, this season, they seem to have been created exclusively for the sake of vests. Designers have fantasized as much as possible on the theme of this third element, making it the main one.

By the way, you don't have to wear a blouse under a vest.

Colored skin

Leather and faux leather have been popular for several years, but this season, black is particularly actively receding, giving way to bright shades. Leather is usually associated with autumn and winter, but this spring the trends are changing.

Jackets, shirts, vests, raincoats, dresses, skirts, pants and even jumpsuits... Saffron yellow, brick brown, grass green, passionate red, rich lilac - this is just a short list of colors from the palette of spring-summer collections of fashion houses.
